Background information
The Heart of Midlothian Education and Community Trust was launched in 2006 and is registered as a Scottish Charity.
Since this time the Trust has forged valuable and fruitful relationships with six local authorities and numerous community partners, resulting in a high levels of activity in areas such as health, education, social responsibility, grassroots sport and club development. In close conjunction with Heart of Midlothian Football Club the Trust continues to make a valuable social and community contribution
to the south-east of Scotland and beyond.
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
'To utilise the power of sport, the popularity of football and Heart of Midlothian players as positive role models to motivate, educate, and inspire children, youths and adults within our community through a range of innovative and
progressive programmes and events.'
AIM
Use the Heart of Midlothian brand as a high profile vehicle, to help create progressive, vibrant hubs of sporting, health, educational and social activities, leading to positive life choices and opportunities and in doing so build the club's supporter base by engaging with at least 30,000 people per year, across a significant geographical area.
OBJECTIVES
Be innovative and progressive in the sporting community, encouraging participation and to act as advisors in relation to football and other sporting activities.
Promote the benefits of sport, fitness and well-being and the provision of assistance and research in relation to sports related and healthy lifestyle matters.
Advance education opportunities in the community by promoting, alone or in conjunction with others, numeracy, literacy and personal development.
Use football and Hearts as a motivator to tackle antisocial behaviour and promote acceptable conduct in our communities.
Support youth clubs and organisations that work with young people by lending the expertise that Hearts staff possess along with access to facilities, opportunities and equipment.
Maintain and develop Heart of Midlothian's reputation as a 'true' community club by being a best practice model and leader in the field of community development.
Be a valued community partner with local authorities to develop programmes that cater for the needs of our community.
To promote Heart of Midlothian Football Club in a positive light, promote the Hearts brand, create tangible links with existing and potential supporters and to encourage increased attendances at home and away matches, thus creating a fan base for the future.

PROGRAMMES & INITIATIVES
Our range of activities is diverse. We are extremely fortunate to be able to call on resources made available by the club including facilities at Tynecastle Stadium and the Hearts Football Academy at Heriot Watt University, the expertise and time of the clubs staff and of course Heart of Midlothian players who continue to impress with their positive and enthusiastic attitude towards our participants and programmes.

Introducing Alan White, programme manager
Alan White holds both an Advanced Children's Licence and Youth Licence from the Scottish Football Association and brings extensive experience to this new post.
He has worked with the Scottish Football Association for eight years, during which time he worked in partnership with The City of Edinburgh Council and Heart of Midlothian Football Club. Alan has specialised in the development of young footballers in the 3-16 age group promoting participation and developing club approaches to the development of young footballers. He continues to support coach education courses with SFA staff.
Alan also holds a higher national diploma in sports coaching and has extensive business experience having managed his own personal fitness company.
