The Czech star, who has already smashed nine goals for the club, last night penned a new deal which keeps him at Tynecastle until the summer.

Having featured in the Europa League this season against Paksi and Tottenham Hotspur, the 32-year-old would like nothing better than to see his club back on the big stage again.

Speaking exclusively to Hearts News after signing his new agreement, Rudi said: "I am pleased that the deal was done and that Mr Romanov has extended my stay at the club.

"I am looking forward to the next few months. I want to help the club as much as I can and hopefully finish high enough to get back into Europe again."

Paulo Sergio's side welcomes St Johnstone to Tynecastle Stadium in the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2.15pm).

A cup winner with the Edinburgh club in 2006, the midfielder is hoping to enjoy another good run in the competition, adding: "This is a great tournament and of course we want to do well.

"We have another home draw and it's important we make the most of it this weekend, although St Johnstone are a good team and will be a tough opponent."
