Rudi: Special day
Hearts hero Rudi Skacel revealed his desire to remain at Tynecastle for the foreseeable future as he soaked up the happiness of a glorious day in Gorgie.
The Czech attacker netted an absolutely sensational hat-trick as ten-man Hearts completed a remarkable turnaround by blitzing St Mirren 5-2 after going behind midway through the first half. All three of Rudi's goals came from long range - similar to his treble against the same opposition last season.
Rudi said: "I'm delighted to get a hat-trick. It's always great to score one. Any hat-trick is special. I enjoy any goal, especially one that helps you get three points. I hope the supporters enjoyed it. I want to give huge thanks to them for their support and I hope these goals can help me get more playing time in the first eleven."
The No.19 has admitted he feels a special affinity with the club and the supporters, and revealed that their support is one of the main reasons as to why he feels so 'at home' in Gorgie.
He continued: "I feel more at home here than anywhere else, definitely, I've always had special treatment from the supporters here. I have to give them thanks for that, always. They are why I want to stay here more than anything. They give me special powers to score goals."
Despite recent speculation regarding Rudi's future, the player himself is keen to remain in Edinburgh, although nothing has yet been agreed.
The midfielder added: "I know Saturday could have been my last game. Maybe the supporters could feel it too.
"I thought about it before the game. So if, and only if, it was my last game, then yes it is a good way to say goodbye, but I don't want to think about that. Hopefully I can extend the contract until at least the end of the season. Today was very special."
Despite recent reports of difficulties within the club, Rudi, was keen to put a dampener on the whole situation as one of the more experienced members of the first team squad.
He said: "For me this is not too difficult. I have had longer delays without wages. Every person has different problems with money, different wages, mortgages, two, three kids, it was a tough time.
"For me, it wasn't a big deal because I've waited four months at times without money. It's bad to think people are coming to training, to play, with their mind on this and not on football."
Finally, Rudi revealed discussions over an extended deal to keep him at Tynecastle were already underway, having met with director Sergejus Fedotovas during the week previous.
He added: "I met briefly with Sergejus last week. We will have more talks in the next few weeks and hopefully we can find a solution, just give us time.
"My contract was only six months long because I was injured in the summer and this was a solution to see how my fitness went. I think it won't be a problem to sign for another 5 months, but maybe they'll offer me a five-year deal! That would be good. Hopefully we can find a good answer to this."
