Derby delight as Hearts win capital clash
From Hearts Media at Easter Road Stadium

Hearts provided with the perfect response to last week's home defeat with a comfortable 2-0 derby win at Easter Road this afternoon.

A magnificent first half solo effort from David Templeton, and Stephen Elliott's first goal for the club sent the 3800 Jambos home from Easter Road celebrating.

Jim Jefferies made three changes from the side that lost to Kilmarnock. Stephen Elliott, David Templeton and Ian Black came in for Darren Barr, Calum Elliot and Suso.

A tense opening meant the first real attempt on goal came after 15 minutes. David Templeton cut in from left, although his right foot drive was straight at Brown.

The same player gave Hearts the lead in spectacular fashion three minutes later. Picking the ball up in the Hibs half, the youngster jinked his way past three Hibs defenders en route to goal before calmly slotting in to the bottom corner.

The young wide man was causing problems cutting in from the left, and was on the end of some cynical tackling at times.

Kyle played in Stephen Elliot on 32 minutes, although the Irishman could only loft the ball wide.

There was little in the way of goalmouth action for the remainder in the first 45, the Jambos heading in to the dressing room with their lead in tact.

Derek Riordan's 53rd minute free kick was the firs time Kello was directly tested, although the Slovakian holding the bouncing ball well.

Black's cross picked out Elliott with a clear sight of goal on 55 minutes, although Skacel appeared to get in his way as he attempted to volley.

Paul Hanlon's wayward strike three minutes after the hour summed up his side's attacking fortunes up 'til that point.

Hearts doubled their lead after 66 minutes. Kyle's flick on from a free kick found Stephen Elliot, who smashed the ball home from close range to claim his first Hearts goal in front of an ecstatic away end.

Bouzid had a chance to make it three on 69 minutes. He fed Jonsson down the right before getting in to the box, and really should have scored when the Icelander's cross was planted right on his head.

A miserable afternoon for Colin Calderwood was completed when skipper Derek Riordan was shown a deserved straight red for a tackle on Skacel with five minutes left.
