Hearts star Eggert Jonsson today insisted Iceland have been handed an advantage by being drawn at home to Scotland in the first-leg of the play-offs to reach the finals of the U21 European Championships in Denmark.

The double header takes place between October 8 and 12, with Billy Stark's side flying to Reykjavik for the opening match before the return at Easter Road - the same night as Iceland's Euro 2012 showdown with Portugal.

Eggert remains eligible for both teams and is eagerly awaiting squad selection news.

"It's a tough draw for us but there were some big teams in it and I'm happy we avoided them," said the Gorgie ace.

"Scotland are a good side, though, have some good players and went well in their group.

"I think the fact we play the first game at home is an advantage and it's important we use that advantage to get a good result to take into the second leg.

"I would like to play in both (Scotland and Portugal) matches but I don't know if that is going to be possible!"

Eggert, who will lead Hearts into action at Parkhead tomorrow in the absence of Marius Zaliukas and Lee Wallace, was delighted to see team-mate David Templeton called into the Scotland set-up for the qualifiers against Belarus and Austria. However, he'd be happy if the in-form wide man wasn't involved against Iceland next month.

He said: "From Iceland's point of view it would be good if he wasn't picked as he has started the season with some very good displays and deserved his call-up to their squad for the last two games.

"It was a shame he wasn't involved but he's playing well and if he is picked he will be a big threat."
