Jim Jefferies bemoaned his Hearts squad's growing injury list after side could not hold on for all three points in a 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice, today.

The Hearts boss was forced into four changes from the team that thumped Hamilton last week but still led until the dying minutes through David Templeton's first half goal.

Marian Kello managed to save a second half penalty but just when the points appeared to belong to the home side, up popped Morgaro Gomis with a wonder strike that meant a share of the spoils.

JJ was not critical of his players but for failing to hold on under difficult circumstances against a determined United side.

He said: "Overall I wouldn't deny them their point because they deserved it.

"I'm just disappointed we couldn't get that second goal and I felt if we had the players that were out today then could have maybe been able to see us through it.

"First half we were on top and deserved to come in with the lead. I thought we started the second reasonably well and had a couple of good balls in the box.

"Then United changed it, they put five in midfield with the two guys out wide and went a little more direct.

"Even though Daly wasn't winning all the headers they kept picking up the second ball. So we had to drop Ryan in the centre of the park to help us.

"I thought it was a strange decision for the penalty but we got justice with a great save.

"We thought then that we were going to hang on, that we'd taken everything they could throw at us. I don't think you could legislate for the strike, probably goal of the season. Just unstoppable."

One of the four changes forced upon Hearts was the injury to Lee Wallace, who pulled up in the warm up after passing an earlier fitness test.

JJ was quick to quash any fears of a potential long term problem.

He said: "We got a scan and there is no ligament or bone problem.

"He was touch and go for today but unfortunately he just couldn't play.

"He'll would not have caused any further damage, we've assured him of that. It's just that if you keep on it then it's not going to go away, he just needs to rest and let it clear up."
