Hearts today revealed that pre-orders of the dramatic new Hearts home and away shirts are up DOUBLE on last season after two days.

Certainly the most talked about home kit in the club's history, the kit has sparked debate on supporters' websites, the club's Facebook page, and in the media.

Bold it may be as a move, but there's little doubt that it's excited supporters who buy Hearts replica kit on a regular basis.

The new kit is a reversal of a design worn by Hearts in the 1970s, and is particularly inspired by a dramatic win the Tynecastle side enjoyed at Ibrox on 2nd December 1972 when Tommy Murray sat on the ball in the build up to the winning goal from Donald Ford.

Comprising of a white panel down the front, which accounts for 30% of the total surface area, against the maroon, which accounts for the other 70% of the total surface, the new kit is striking, different, even controversial for some.

The home kit is formally on sale from 12th August, whilst the away kit hits the shelves on 17th September.

A club spokesperson said, "This is certainly the most talked about kit in the club's history, and it is fantastic to see the passion that it has sparked from our supporters.

"The fact is that sales in the first two days have been magnificent, blowing last year's early sales figures out of the water."

Under the club's new retail franchise Sports Retail Management (SRM), a number of offers are being made available in addition to those already promised by the club.

Platinum Season Ticket holders can claim their free shirt from launch day upon production of a valid smartcard. At that time they will receive a £10 off voucher to pre-order the brand new away shirt.

All other zoned Season Ticket holders can either claim a £10 off voucher when pre-ordering in store or alternatively pay full price for the home shirt and get the away shirt for half-price.

And non-Season Ticket holders can get 25% off the away shirt when ordering the home shirt.
