Kevin Kyle won't be travelling to Italy with the Hearts squad this weekend.

The Tynecastle front man, who underwent a minor piece of surgery on an abductor muscle injury earlier in the summer, was assessed by his surgeon in Bradford yesterday.

It was a routine appointment, however Kevin had felt some discomfort earlier this week and reported that to the specialist.

And as a result of some minor inflammation - most likely as a cause of the striker working too hard to get back to full fitness - he's been given an injection.

Now Kevin requires one week's rest before resuming training and as a result won't be with the squad when they jet off to Il Ciocco, on Saturday.

"He's just overdone it a little bit so he won't be joining us in Italy, there's simply no point," Jim Jefferies told Hearts News this morning.

"He'll have a rest, get fit and then be ready to get back to work once we return next weekend."
