Tynecastle: view from the Wheatfield Stand

Tynecastle Stadium has been home to Heart of Midlothian FC since 1886. In 2005, Hearts majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov stated that the club would remain at Tynecastle and do everything possible to invest in the club and the surrounding area to provide benefits for everyone.

If the development proposals are accepted:

  • Hearts shall invest over £51 million in the proposed Tynecastle Stadium development, creating over 250 full time jobs and 57 part time jobs (excluding construction phase).

  • The investment will lead to approximately £500,000 extra income (excluding ticket sales) being brought into the area per season, the majority of which will be spent in local business outside the stadium.

  • Hearts will generate approximately £2.25 million additional ticket revenue per season.

  • Edinburgh's economy is set to benefit from a redeveloped Tynecastle Stadium with increased opportunities to attract more top games. The recent clash between Hearts and Barcelona at Murrayfield generated more than £7m for the city's economy.

  • The club intends to develop a new Main Stand (McLeod Street Stand) in order to deliver these benefits for Hearts and those that live and work in the surrounding area.

  • Hearts aspirations include becoming a top European football team and an essential part of this process is providing adequate facilities for the club's large number of supporters.

  • New stadium facilities will be complemented by commercial space with a range of uses including a gym, new club store, hotel, 'city view' restaurant and residential accommodation.

  • The new Main Stand will comprise two teirs, 10,000 seats, conference and banqueting hall for up to 1,000 people, two members lounges, 25 executive suites, and dedicated player, match official and media facilities.
